Kol Dam : The Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to construct a Project namely Kol Dam Hydro Electric Project of 800 MW ( 4 x 200 MW ) in Bilaspur District. It is situated about 25 K.M from District HQ on river SATLUJ 4  KMS   upstream of Dehar Power Plant. The construction of this project will be done by the National Thermal Power Corporation ( NTPC ) and an agreement has been taken place between H.P. Govt. and NTPC on 26-02-2000.  The estimated annual generation will be 3054 GWH ( 90 % Dependable Year ). The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 6,300 Crore.

From the Kol Dam Project alone, Himachal Pradesh will get 12% of the powerKol Dam Site produced free of cost and another 15% at bus-bar rate. The Kol Dam Project will no doubt unleash prosperity - fields, in small-scale units and generate employment opportunities. Along with other such projects, the Kol project, too, shall bring prosperity in Himachal Pradesh. This, in turn, shall contribute to the prosperity of our country.

Land is being acquired in 68 villages for this project. For the resettlement of thePublic Information Centre oustees resettlement colony with modern amenities is being developed at Kangoo in Sunder Nagar. Similar colonies will be developed for BIlaspur, Karsog, Sunni and Arki.

Continuous interaction between State Administration, NTPC and Oustees is being done through Village Development Advisory Committees (VDACs). Public Information Centres (PIC) have been opened at Harnora in Bilaspur, Kyan in Mandi and Sunni.
